1 Corinthians 2:13-14 (NKJV)
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the
Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with
spiritual.
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of
God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know
them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:13 (NLT)
13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the
Spirit’s words to explain
spiritual truths.
Footnotes:
a.1 Corinthians 2:13 Or explaining spiritual truths in spiritual language, or explaining spiritual truths to spiritual people.
1 Corinthians 2:13 (New Testament) (WE)
13We do not tell you these things in wise words which men taught us. But the Holy Spirit taught us. We teach things about the Spirit which we know about through the Spirit.
Corinthians 2:9-13 (NKJV)
9 But as it is written:
“ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love
Him.”
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the
deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but
which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with
spiritual.

Daniel 2:36-38 (NKJV)
36 “This is the dream. Now we will tell the interpretation of it before the king. 37 You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; 38 and wherever the children of men dwell, or the beasts of the field and the birds of the heaven, He has given them into your hand, and has made you ruler over them all—you are this head of gold.
Daniel 2:39 (NKJV)
39 But after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth.
Daniel 2:40 (NKJV)
40 And the fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron, inasmuch as iron breaks in pieces and shatters everything; and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others.
Daniel 2:41-45 (NKJV)
41 Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. 44 And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. 45 Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.”
Ezekiel 21:26-27 (NKJV)

“ Remove the turban, and take off the crown;
Nothing shall remain the same.

Daniel and His Friends Obey God
1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
Daniel 5:1-6
25-31(NKJV)
Daniel 5
Belshazzar’s Feast
1 Belshazzar the king made a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine in the presence of the thousand. 2 While he tasted the wine, Belshazzar gave the command to bring the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple which had been in Jerusalem, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them. 3 Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them. 4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone.
5 In the same hour the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. 6 Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other.
Daniel 5:25-31 (NKJV)
25 “And this is the inscription that was written:
26 This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27
TEKEK: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”[d] 29 Then Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold around his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
Belshazzar’s Fall
30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain. 31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.
Daniel 8:20-21 (NKJV)
20 The ram which you saw, having the two horns—they are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the male goat is the
kingdom[a] of Greece. The large horn that is between its eyes is the first king.

2 Peter 1:10-11 (NKJV)

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Scripture, the Bible, according to this text, is profitable or beneficial for 1) doctrine or teaching, 2) reproof or showing us what we did that was not right, 3) correction or bringing us into the right way, 4) and instruction in righteousness.
The Bible is God’s Basic Instructions Before leaving Earth!
Transition: And the Bible contains God’s plan for our future.
2. 2 Peter 1:19-21
Prophecy is even more correct than an eyewitness. Prophecy is not subject to any private interpretation. We must let God’s Word interpret itself. When the Bible interprets itself we can know that what we have found is true and reliable.

Jesus tells us the reason for prophecy in John 14:29...
3. John 14:29
Jesus tells us things before they take place so that when they do take place we will believe.
Transition:
How far in advance can God tell the future?
What claim does He make?
4. Isaiah 49:9, 10
God tells us the end from the beginning. God can tell us in the beginning what will happen in the end! Can you do that? Not a chance!

Iron and Clay = the Divided Empire Here is were reality set in for me. This is a true story that can be checked out in library.
History is very clear that the Western Roman Empire divided into ten separate kingdoms, Alemanni, Franks, Burgundians, Suevi, Vandals, Visigoths, Anglo-Saxons, Ostrogoths, Lombards, and the Heruli; this is the order that they came into prominence in the western empire. History is also unmistakably clear as to who uprooted the three exterminated kingdoms. It can be attributed to one power only and this power is the little horn of Daniel 7, which is synonymous with the beast from the sea in Revelation 13 and the power that enforces the mark of the beast, the Papal Church of Rome. |

1 Thessalonians 5:2-6 (NKJV)
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple
1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
Matthew 24:4-7

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for
all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines,
pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

really asked 2 questions, even though they thought they were asking only one.
They thought that something as bad as he destruction of the temple had to be the

destruction of the temple, “and what shall be the signs of thy coming and
the end of the world” the end of everything.

Matthew
24:7 (Wars, Famines, Pestilences, Earthquakes)
Wars - 15 Million + in WW1 “The War to End all Wars” Then 55 Million+ in WW2
There have been estimated to be more deaths in the 20th century from war
than all previous combined. (Jesus
said it would get worse before it gets better!)
Famines - 800 million people go hungry each year. Between 40
and 60 million people starve to death each year, many of them children. That
means between 110,000 and 165,000 people die per day of starvation.
Pestilences - Swine flu is not the only pestilence that has ended
up in the headlines in recent years. Ebola, MRSA, AIDS, and the hanta virus have
also risen from obscurity to well-known status in recent years. Diverse places
all over the globe have seen one or more of these viruses. This current outbreak
is just another pestilence among many.
Earthquakes - According to
long-term records (since about 1900),
we expect about 17 major earthquakes (7.0 - 7.9) and one great earthquake (8.0
or above) in any given year. (Statement from USGS web site)

Source of Evil - a personal angelic rebellion against God
1. Genesis 1:1-4 According to verse 4, God saw that it was what? Good.
The word “good” occurs 7 times in this chapter alone; 4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, 31.
When God made the world it was good.
Since God made everything in the beginning good, what happened?
2.
Matthew 13:24-30, 37-39 esp
28, 39
2.(Parable: a simple story that illustrates a larger spiritual meaning)
2.Did Jesus
take any responsibility for the bad seed? No, He said, “An enemy has done this.”
2.DEVIL
3.
Luke 13:10-16
3.Did Jesus take any responsibility for the state of this
woman? No, He said, “Whom Satan has
bound.”
3.Satan = enemy, adversary
3.Who is the devil? Who is Satan?
4. Luke 10:18 Where did this enemy come from? Heaven.
Does the Bible tell us anything more about Satan? Yes, there are two primary references in the OT that show us behind the curtain or backstage.
5.
Ezekiel 28:11-18
5.King of Tyre was an earthly, evil man. In this symbolic vision, God takes Ezekiel behind the scenes of the King of Tyre’s life to see who was controlling him, which was Satan. We know it is talking about Satan because it says he was in Eden, and he was the seal of perfection.
5.“Perfect” is used three times (12, 12, 15) - He was created perfect
5.14 - “anointed cherub who covers” - sanctuary language. The OT sanctuary consisted of three parts: courtyard, Holy Place, Most Holy Place. In the MHP there was a box, inside were the 10 commandments, the box had a lid, on the lid were two angel figurines that symbolize the angels that stand beside God in heaven. By saying the “anointed cherub who covers” God was telling Ezekiel that this angel dwelt in the immediate presence of God’s throne.
5.15 - Iniquity was found in you
5.16 - “trading” = to gossip
5.17
- Does God take any responsibility for this corruption? No, he says, “Your
heart, You, You, You.”
Does the Bible tell us anything more about how this change happened?
6.
Isaiah 14:12-14
6.“Lucifer” = morning star
6.13 - “I” is the foundation of sIn, sin originated in self-seeking. Lucifer wanted to be more than what God had appointed him to be.
6.12 - How did Lucifer become Satan? He fell.
6.*Show all 11 references to upward motion: ascend, Heaven, exalt, above, stars, mount, North, ascend, heights, clouds, high. Satan says, 11 times, I want to go up. “Sit on the mount of congregation” = I want to sit on God’s throne.
6.
6.The Bible fingers a personal angelic rebellion against God as the origin of evil and suffering.
6.
6.*Illustration: Let me illustrate how this happened. Some people say, “Why did God create this being if He knew he would rebel?” Imagine if a gunman were to come into this auditorium right now and tell us all to stand up or we would be killed, we would stand. If he told us to spin around and bark like dogs, we would spin and bark, etc. What if that same gunman pointed that same gun at you and said, “I want you to love me with all your heart or I will kill you.” Could you love him? No, because love and loyalty cannot be forced. No one can love on command. On your wedding day, “I do” is so important and beautiful because, “I don’t” is an option. God created Lucifer with free will, the ability to choose to serve, to choose to love, to choose to be loyal or to choose not to.
Thrust of Evil - Satan wants that which he never
deserves, the worship that is due only to God
7. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 The figure revealed in verses 3, 4 is what the Bible calls, “the antichrist.” Don’t get confused or overwhelmed by this mention of the antichrist because we will have a whole study on it, but just notice that the antichrist acts a lot like Satan.
| 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 (NKJV) The Great Apostasy 1 Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. |
4 - What does he do - Exalts himself
Who does he pretend to be? God
Why? The longing desire of
Satan’s rebellious heart is to receive worship and
honor
which he is not due. The text here says that he will do it through this
antichrist
figure.
Revelation 13 is the antichrist chapter in the book of Revelation. Let’s go there and see more about this antichrist and his role.
Symbolic representation of the antichrist himself.
8. Revelation 13:1-4 (12:9 Dragon is Satan) the way that the dragon is worshipped is by people worshipping the beast. The antichrist is Satan’s frontman to receive worship.
8.*Illustration: Would anyone worship the devil as the devil? Only a few. Does the devil know that? Yes. So the devil has to receive worship by deception.
9. Revelation 13:4,8,12,15; 14:7,9,11 “Worship” These two chapters are the pivotal chapters for Christians living in the end times and worship seems to be the center.
9.
9.Let’s see
how badly Satan wants to be worshipped.
10. Matthew 4:9 - Matthew 4:1-11 is the devil tempting Jesus in the wilderness
10.The created asks the creator to worship him.
10.
10.The real issue of the problem of evil is not death, disease, murder, rape, etc. these are all symptoms of the real issue: the conflict between God and Satan over who is the rightful ruler of the world.
10.
10.*If evil
could be explained it could be excused.
Cosmic Battle over you
Eden-to-Eden Genesis 1,2
--> Revelation 21,22
Genesis 1,2 Perfect God, in perfect communion with a perfect people in a perfect environment.
Revelation 21,22 Perfect God, in perfect communion with a perfect people in a perfect environment.
All that is between Genesis 2 and Revelation 21 is God trying to bring His people back to perfection. Revelation 22:4 “They shall see His face.” Adam and Eve saw His face in the first Eden, God will bring back that face-to-face communication.
11. 1 Peter 5:8 The devil is playing for keeps
12. Revelation 12:7-9 The forces of evil are fighting the forces of righteousness. This battle is raging over the lives of men and women on this earth. This battle is raging over you!
13. 1 Corinthians 15:57 The only way for us to have victory in this battle with evil is to cling to Jesus. He is our strength to overcome the devil/satan.
14. John 16:33 It is no mystery to every one of us that there is tribulation in this world. There are unexplainable circumstances in our lives that we want to blame on someone. But that someone must never be God. He promises us peace in the middle of our tribulation!
15.
1 John 4:4
Christ has overcome the world and the forces of evil for us.
We must rely on Him to keep us safe from the devil/satan.
Appeals: Is it your desire to overcome all that you know to be evil in your life? Have you been struggling with all that is evil in this world? What would keep you from allowing Jesus to make you victorious in your life?
Based on what we’ve learned today, God’s question for you
is, do you want to be turned from darkness to light, do you want your eyes to be
opened, do you want the forgiveness of sins so you can be with Him for eternity?
Defend It (Difficult
Texts):
1. Q: Why did God create Satan?
1.A: He didn’t. God created Lucifer and Lucifer by his own free will and choice, chose to become Satan.
2. Q: Why did God create Lucifer, knowing that he would sin?
2.A: What God fore-knows is not necessarily what He fore-chose. God would rather take the risk on a real relationship than be alone or be in company of robots. Apparently God would rather wrestle with the often stubborn will of man, than reign supreme over rocks and trees.
*Where sin is not a possibility, freedom is not a reality.
3. Q: Why does there have to be so much evil in the world?
3.A: We don’t fully understand why God has allowed evil to go the distance that it has, however we also know that evil will not have been in vain.
4. Q: Why did God allow Satan to be on the same planet as mankind?
4.A: Revelation 12:7-12, John 12:31 After the cross Satan only had access to our earth.
4.
4.Col 2:14,15 “handwriting of requirements” certificate of indebtedness - the wages of sin is death. Jesus on the cross wiped that out. On the cross Jesus disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them.
5. Q: Why didn’t God just kill Satan?
5.A: If someone accuses me of doing something, and suddenly the
accuser shows up dead, people would suggest that I had a reason to kill them. It
would have appeared that Satan was on to something.

The Problem
1. Genesis 1:26, 27, 31 - mans original condition was in God’s image
2. Genesis 3:1-8 esp 8 - the fall of man
2.Two chapters before God made man in His own image. Their actions evidenced who they believed. Instead of running to God, they are fleeing from Him.
2.Why do you suppose they hid? They were ashamed and felt guilty.
2.They were experiencing emotions that God never intended for them
to feel.
Was this merely something that happened to a man and a woman in a garden thousands of years ago? Was this an isolated incident completely unrelated to us today?
3. Romans 3:23 - ALL have sinned, no one has escaped. All have had the experience of guilt, all have had the experience of shame, all have wanted to flee and hide from God.
3.Fall short - continually fall short (Greek continuative)
3.
4. Romans
6:23a - the wages of sin tis death
Why death? Why couldn’t the wages of sin be imprisonment or corporal punishment? The Bible answers that question.
5. John
1:1-4a, esp 4a - Jesus is the source of all life.
6. Isaiah 59:1,2 - Sin causes separation.
6.*Illustration: If I put my arms against a wall, I can say my arms are separating me from the wall. If I push against the wall, who moves? Me. My sins push me away from God, God does not push me away.
6.Who fled from who in the Garden of Eden? Adam and Eve fled.
6.2 - “your God” He is still our God, He does not disown us.
6.The result of sin is death because it causes us to move away from
the source of life.
The good news of Salvation is only as good as the bad news is bad. Lifeguard saving you in your kiddie-pool, or someone saving you in the ocean, which salvation do you appreciate?
The Solution
7. John 3:16,17 - What is a synonym for perish? Die.
7.
How does this work? In what way does God sending His son save us from death?
8. Matthew 20:28 - Give His life as a ransom, a price.
How does this ransom solve the problem?
9. Romans 5:10
9.How are we reconciled to God? By
the death of His son. He died the death that you deserve.
9.How are we saved? By His life. Jesus lived the life that you have not lived.
9.*Illustration: The billionaires club - Imagine that you wanted to become a member of the billionaires club. To be a member how much money do you need to have? One billion. If you’re one billion in debt, how much do you need to be a member? Two billion, one to get out of debt and one to get into the club. Jesus death is like the first billion dollars, it pays the penalty, the debt of sin. Since Jesus paid the debt of our sin, all we have to do is live the rest of our lives perfectly without sin and then we will be saved. Jesus’ life is the second billion that gets us into the club.
9.
9.He died the death that you deserve, He lived the life you have not lived and He gives you His sinless life as a free gift.
9.
9.Since Jesus died for everyone, does that mean that EVERYONE is saved? Salvation is available to everyone, but we must choose to receive it. How do we receive salvation?
10. Ephesians 2:8 - How do we receive salvation? Through faith. True faith is not something that we just profess. True faith is demonstrated by actions. Let’s see what Jesus himself says about the demonstrations of faith that lead us to salvation.
11. John 8:24 - BELIEVE!
12. Luke 13:3, 5 - REPENT
13. Mark 16:16 - BE BAPTIZE
14.
Revelation
2:10 - REMAIN FAITHFUL

John 5:11-13
11 - Where is eternal life found? In His son, Jesus.
12
- If you have His son, what do you also have? Eternal
life.
13 - Who has this eternal life? All who believe.
Why is John writing this? So that
you know that you have eternal life.
What does John encourage us
to do? To continue to believe.
Simple Questions with
Simple Answers:
1. Q: Can you lose the gift of Salvation? (Once saved always saved)
1.A: No, if what you mean by that is lose your salvation like you can lose your shoe. God will never take it from us, but you can give it back.
Extra - Why is it free for us? There was no other way that God could have given it to us.
Galatians 3:21 - If there was a way for a law to give us righteousness, He would have done it. If he could have saved us by our own obedience He would have done that, but He couldn’t.
We have a mechanism that God used to save us, the cross. He can be true to His law, and true to His mercy. He poured out the wrath of sin on Jesus, the demands of justice were satisfied, now I can be the recipient of mercy.
Once saved, always saved as long as you remain saved.
The number one reason why people aren’t making decisions for God is because no one is asking them to.

Plucks
up (destroys) three horns (kingdoms) (Daniel 7:8, 24)
The Papacy comes to power in 538. The Roman
Church did uproot three of the ten kingdoms. The Vandals(in 534 A.D.), the
Heruli (in 493 A.D.) and the Ostrogoths (in 538 A.D.). These three Arian
kingdoms were a threat to the supremacy of the Bishop of Rome [later called the
Pope]. To make a long story short, these three kingdoms eventually were uprooted
by the imperial power acting under the influence of the Bishop of Rome. It is of
great significance that in 533 A. D. Justinian proclaimed a decree which
recognized the Pope’s headship over all the churches of east and west. This
decree was actually a letter written by Justinian to Pope John. But the
Ostrogoths were still a threat to the supremacy of the Pope. They were uprooted
in February 538 A.D. Thus Justinian’s decree went into effect making the
Bishop of Rome supreme.

Different

(Daniel 7:24)
The Bishop of Rome, in the seat of the
Caesars, was now the greatest man in the West, and was soon forced to become the
political as well as the spiritual head. To the Western world Rome was still the
political capital — hence the whole habit of mind, all ambition, pride, and
sense of glory, and every social prejudice favored the evolution of the great
city into the ecclesiastical capital. Civil as well as religious disputes were
referred to the successor of Peter for settlement.

writer, educated at St. Johns College, Cambridge, a Methodist, wrote in 1798:
"Is
it not extremely remarkable, and a powerful confirmation of the truth of
Scripture prophecy, that just 1260 years ago from the present 1798, in the very
beginning of the year 538, Belisarius put an end to the empire of the Goths at
Rome, leaving no power therein but the Bishop of that Metropolis? Read these
things in the prophetic Scriptures; … and then, I say again, deny the truth of
Divine Revelation, if you can. Open your eyes, and behold these things
accomplishing in the face of the whole world. This thing is not done in a

Study: Law Of God (LG)
Intent of Study: To show that God’s Law is still valid today. To show that keeping God’s Law is an expression of our love for Him.
Focus It: If we do away with God’s Law we have done away with sin. If there is no sin, we do not need grace to overcome sin. If we do not need grace, then we do not need the Author of grace, Jesus Christ. By doing away with the Law we do away with Jesus!
Know It/Mark It:
Example of Law, Sin, Grace, Jesus and then look at them backwards, ie., Jesus, Grace, Sin, Law.

Jesus:
1. Acts 4:12
Scripture tells us that there is only one Name given that can save us from our sins and that Name is Jesus Christ. It is for this reason that John the Baptist called Jesus, “the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.”
2. Matthew 1:21
The reason that Jesus came to this earth was to save us FROM our sins, not in our sins!
3. 1 Corinthians 1:24
Jesus IS the POWER of God to overcome sin.
4. 1 Peter 1:13
When we accept Christ we automatically receive the Grace of Christ.
Transition: So what is the Grace of Christ?
Grace: We are going to parallel three texts showing that “Grace” is the “Power of God.”

Believe |
Jesus is the only way that a
person can be saved because He is the Author of Grace, the power of God to
overcome sin.
8. Titus 2:11, 12
Notice how God’s Grace, that which brought salvation, teaches us to:
a. deny ungodliness
b. deny worldly lusts
c. live soberly
d. live righteously
e. live Godly
WHEN should we do this? According to the text, we should do this “in this present world.” Now. Today, we should live a righteous, sober, Godly life. Paul tells us that we need to live this way because we are sinners...Transition: What does “sin” mean?
Sin:
9. 1 John 3:4
According to this text, “sin” is living a life of “lawlessness,”
living a life of breaking God’s Law. Living a life without regard to God’s Law.
Transition:
What Law tells us what sin is?
10. Romans 7:7, 12
Paul says that he would not have known sin except by the law. What law? The law that said, “Thou shalt not covet.” Which law says that? The Ten Commandment Law. The very Law that is called “holy, just, and good” in verse 12. Transition: What is it that our sin does to our relationship with God?
11. Isaiah 59:1, 2
Our iniquities/sin/breaking of God’s Law separates us from God. Transition: God’s people are those who keep God’s Law.
Law:
12. Revelation 12:17 (14:12)
John clearly tells us that God’s people, the remnant, keep the commandments of God! He shows us the same concept in Revelation 14:12. Transition: Notice what Jesus says about His Law in Matthew 5:17, 18.
13. Matthew 5:17, 18
Jesus tells us that He did not come to destroy the law or the prophets,
but to fulfill them. **Some may say
here that Jesus fulfilled the Law so that we do not have to or Jesus did away
with the Law by fulfilling it. If
that happens, show them Matthew 3:15. Matthew 3:15 says that Jesus came to fulfill all
righteousness. Does this mean that
Jesus came to do away with all unrighteousness? Certainly not. Transition: Keep Matthew 5:17, 18 in mind as we read the Law.
Jesus said that He did not come to destroy the Law.
So as we read the Law, let’s ask after each one if Jesus destroyed that
part of the Law.
Isaiah 42:21--Jesus came to
“fill” the law “full” of meaning.
(Jot. Gr. iōta, the ninth letter of the Greek alphabet, corresponding to the Heb. yod, the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet.
Tittle. Gr. keraia, literally, “a little horn,” probably to be identified with the little hook on the letter wau. The Jews had a tradition that if all the men in the world should attempt to abolish the least letter of the law, they could not possibly succeed. To do so would incur guilt so great, they reasoned, that the world would be destroyed.)
14. Exodus 20:1-17
Remember to ask after each Commandment if Jesus did away with that Commandment. The obvious answer is, “NO!” It is not necessary and you should not focus on any commandment, but to read each one and allow the student to give the correct answer. Transition: God’s Law is eternal. Thus God expects His people to keep His Law eternally.
15. Ecclesiastes 12:13
Through Solomon God tells us that the keeping of the Law is the whole
duty of man! Transition: The keeping of the Law is our hearts response for the
Salvation that comes through Jesus. It
is a response of obedient love.
(To
“fear” God is to regard Him with profound and reverent respect (Ex. 19:10–13;
20:20)
and to have proper regard for His will (Deut.
8:6; Prov. 3:7;
Eccl.
12:13; Isa. 11:2, 3;
33:6).)
Appeal:
16. 1 John 5:2, 3
We show God that we love Him by keeping His Commandments.
Scripture could not be clearer. All
scripture concerning the Law teach us to obey God’s Law.
If it appears to say something other than that, then we need to study
those texts to have them line up with God’s expectations of His people.
Transition: Jesus tells us
His expectations in John 14:15.
17. John 14:15
Our love response to Jesus and His sacrifice is the keeping of His commandments.
Is it your desire to love Jesus 100%?
Is there anything that would keep you?Simple questions with simple answers:

a. Romans 3:23
ii. We are not under the law as a means of salvation!
iii. Galatians 4:4
1. Only those who recognize their condition as being under the curse of the Law (when they are apart from Christ) are saved by Jesus.
7. Wasn’t the Law nailed to the Cross?
a. Colossians 2:14-17
i. Verse 14
1. “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us”
2. Deuteronomy 31:9, 24, 26
a. Moses writes a law.
b. This law is written in a book.
c. This book was put “in the side of the ark of the covenant.”
d. This was there for a “witness against thee.”
3. Exodus 31:18
a. God writes a Law with His finger.
b. This Law is written on stone.
c. Moses breaks these when he comes down from the mountain where he was communing with God.
d. Then God tells Moses to bring another set of tablets to him so that He (God) can write on those tablets.
e. Deuteronomy 10:1-5
i. Verse 2
1. This “testimony” that God gave to Moses was placed inside the ark of “testimony.”
ii. Verse 4
1. The Lord wrote the same words on this second set of tablets.
2. The Lord handed to Moses this second set of tablets.
iii. Verse 5
1. Moses puts these in the ark...as the LORD commanded.
ii. Verse 16
1. “Let no man judge you therefore...”
a. What does it mean...“therefore?”
i. Because the “handwriting of ordinances” was nailed “to the cross.”
2. “judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday (festival), or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.”
a. Does God’s 10-commandment moral law mention anything about meat? drink? holydays/festival? new moon? sabbath days (note that this is plural)?
i. God’s Law does not say anything about meat, drink, holydays/festivals/or more than one sabbath!
iii. Verse 17
1. “Which are a shadow of things to come.”
a. The meat offerings, drink offerings, holydays/festivals, new moons, sabbath days were all part of the ceremonial law that Moses wrote and placed in the side of the ark of the covenant.
b. Leviticus 23 actually distinguishes the weekly Sabbath from the ceremonial sabbaths:
i. Leviticus 23:1-4, 37-39
1. Verse 3 tells us about the weekly “seventh day” Sabbath.
2. Verse 4 tells us that there are other “holy convocations” to the Lord.
a. A convocation is a gathering of people.
b. A holy convocation is a gathering of people for a holy purpose.
3. Verses 37-39 tell us that the “holy convocations” were different from the weekly Sabbath day.

We’re going to study the part of God’s law that has been attempted to be changed.
1. Daniel 7:25 - describes anti-christ power, what is it going to do in relationship to God’s law? Intends to change God’s law.
1.
2. Revelation 14:12 - God’s special people will be obeying the commandments of God. (all ten) The antichrist will be so deceptive that people who claim to be following God and thinking they are doing right will actually be obeying the devil. How can this be?
Let’s look at the part of the law that has experienced the change.
3. Exodus 20:8-11 - This is the Sabbath commandment which asks us to rest on the seventh day of the week, but there has been a change and now people are worshipping on the first day of the week.
Who made the Sabbath?
4. John
1:1-3,14 - Jesus is the Word that was with God, who is equal with God, He
was the active agent in creation. Who was the God that said to keep the Sabbath?
Jesus.
4.Christ created the Sabbath in the beginning and Christ gave the
Sabbath commandment on Mt Sinai. (1 Corinthians 10:1-5,9
; Colossians 1:15,16 God
made all things. Let’s look at the first created Sabbath.
4.
5. Genesis 1:31-2:3 - God rested on the seventh day and blessed it.
A lot of people think that God is saying to just pick one day to worship Him on, work six days and rest one. But that is flawed thinking, God rested on a particular day, this is a unique day because it is sealed with God’s holiness.
What was the Sabbath made for?
6.
Mark 2:27,28 - What day was
man made on? The sixth day.
6.What day was the Sabbath made? The
seventh day.
6.God made the Sabbath for mankind, does not say that the Sabbath was made for the Jews. The Sabbath is to be a blessing to humanity, not humanity to be a blessing for the Sabbath.
6.(John 5:1, 6:4, 7:2 - feasts made for the Jews, but the Sabbath was for man)
How did Jesus relate to the Sabbath while He was on earth?
7. Luke 4:16 - went to the synagogue to read on the Sabbath day.
7.Jesus kept the Sabbath in His life.
7.
How do we know that Jesus taught and believed that the Sabbath
was on Saturday?
8. Luke 23:53-24:3 - Jesus died on preparation day, good Friday = Friday, rested on Sabbath and was raised on the first day of the week, easter Sunday = Sunday.
8.Jesus kept the Sabbath in His death.
We’ve learned Christ created the Sabbath in Eden, commanded the Sabbath on Sinai, kept the Sabbath in His life, clarified the Sabbath in his death and now we’ll find out how Jesus expected his disciples to relate to the Sabbath after His death.
9. Matthew 24:20 - Jesus was talking in 31AD and he said that Jerusalem would be destroyed in 70AD, and for the 39 years in between He tells His disciples to pray that their flight would not be in winter or on the Sabbath. Jesus expected that after His death the winter would continue, so He was expecting that the Sabbath would continue after His death.
9.
10. Acts 13:14-16,37-39,42-44 - Paul comes to church on Sabbath and the leaders ask if he has anything to say, so he preaches. Who begged to hear more preaching? The gentiles. Who hears the sermon on the next Sabbath? Almost the whole city.
10.If the day was changed why wouldn’t they have announced that they did not need to wait until the next week, that they could have just come the next day? What was Paul doing the other six days of the week?
11. Acts 18:1-4 Paul was working six days a week and was preaching to both Jews and Greeks (gentiles) on Sabbath.
Let’s read a wonderful promise about the future.
Appeal:
12. Isaiah 66:22,23 -
Sabbath has existed from the beginning and it will exist in the end.
God created the Sabbath in Eden, commanded it on Mount Sinai, kept it in His life, clarified it in His death. Everyone will be keeping the Sabbath in the new Heaven and the new earth. If all of these people in God’s history are committing to keeping the Sabbath, what would keep you from keeping it. You choice is to follow Jesus Christ and keeping the day holy that HE blessed, or you can follow the antichrist and his deception of a counterfeit sabbath. Which will you choose?
**Important question to ask: After learned all of this from the Bible, how do you feel about the Sabbath?
Do you see that the Sabbath day is the seventh of the week?

Introduction:
We will discuss three items in this study:
Texts to Mark in your
Bible:
1. John 14:1-3
Jesus promised to return to take us to heaven with Him.
The emphasis is that Jesus is going to return.
Transition:
It was the hope of the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to return that
caused the early church leaders to have a pure heart.
We see this in our next verse...
2. 1 John 3:2,3
We can see here that it is the hope of the return of Christ that motivates one to have a pure heart.
Transition:
Those who have a pure heart are the ones that Jesus is coming back for.
He comes the second time with no reference to sin but to bring salvation
to those who are pure.
3. Hebrews 9:28
Jesus comes back to this earth to take His people home. He comes the second time without reference to sin, for the purpose of salvation.
Transition:
What will that second coming of Jesus be like?
4. Acts 1:9-11
Visible.
Notice in this passage that a word describing “sight” appears five times. Note them:
vs. 9--”watched,” “sight”
vs. 10--“looked”
vs. 11--”gazing,” “saw”
Verse 11 tells us that Jesus will come in the same manner that they SAW Him go into heaven.
Transition:
Jesus’ return to this earth (His second coming) will be a visible
event! Notice what Jesus says to
John in Revelation 1:7...
5. Revelation 1:7 (Psalm 104:3; Psalm 68:17)
Again we see that the second coming of Jesus will be a visible event. “Every eye shall see Him...” All of those who are living at the second coming of Jesus will see Jesus coming in the clouds.
If using the KJV, the texts in parentheses will tell us what the clouds are made of...Let’s look...
Psalm 104:3--Describing God the Psalmist says, “who maketh the clouds his chariot...”
CLOUDS = CHARIOT
Psalm 68:17--The Bible tells us that the chariots of God are angels!
CHARIOTS = ANGELS
SO
CLOUDS = CHARIOTS = ANGELS
CLOUDS = ANGELS
The clouds that received Jesus out of the sight of the disciples was made of angels!
When Jesus returns, He returns on a cloud of angels!
Transition:
In fact Jesus returns with all of His angels!
6. Matthew 25:31
Jesus is coming with all of the Angels!
Transition:
Jesus comes with the glory of all the angels, the glory of Himself, and
the glory of the Father.
7. Matthew 16:27
Transition:
This event is so spectacular the no matter where you are, you will be
able to see it!
8. Matthew 24:26, 27
Jesus manner of coming is no secret! You will know when Jesus returns! Jesus has warned us that if we go and see when someone says that Jesus is in one place or the other we will be disobeying Him and thus be deceived!
Jesus’ coming will be so glorious that all will see it! Just like we see the lightening even when our eyes are closed!
Transition:
At the second coming of Jesus the earth will be breaking apart.
9. Revelation 6:14-17
Will you be able to stand when Jesus comes?
What prayer group will you be in? The one that says, “Lo this is my God. I have waited for Him?” or the group that says, “mountains and rocks fall on me?” Where will you be?
Transition:
With mountains and islands moving and disappearing, the second coming of
Jesus will not be a quiet event at all.
10. Psalm 50:3
God will not keep silent when He comes!
Transition:
Jesus and the entourage of angels, with the glory of Himself and that of
the Father, will cause such a noise that even the “dead in Christ will
rise.”
11. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
Those who sleep in the dust will awake to the shout of God, the voice of the archangel, and the trumpet of God!
Transition:
It is at that moment that all are changed into perfection.
12. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53
All are changed into the perfection of Christ!
Is it your desire to be ready for the second coming of Jesus?
What would keep you?

Intent of Study: To show that the millennium begins at the second coming of Jesus Christ. It is a period of judicial review that culminates in the eternal destruction of the wicked.
Focus It: Christ allows His followers the opportunity to review the decisions that He and the Father have made. He allows us to see that He is fair and just in all of His ways.

Two Resurrections
1. John 5:28, 29
Here we see that there are two types of people that are resurrected.
a. A resurrection of life
b. A resurrection of damnation
Transition:
The Bible also says that there are two classes of people resurrected in
Acts 24:15:
2. Acts 24:15
Again here we see two classes of people resurrected:
a. A resurrection of the just
b. A resurrection of the unjust
Transition:
When do these resurrections take place?
Resurrection of the
righteous:
3. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17
Scripture tells us that the “dead in Christ” rise at the second coming of Jesus. This is the resurrection that we want to come up in! Transition: The righteous are raised at the second coming, what happens to the wicked people at the second coming?
Destruction of the wicked
at the second coming of Jesus:
4. 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
Verse 7 gives us the context of the second coming.
Verse 8 tells us that the wicked (those that “obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ”) are destroyed.
So at the same time that the righteous are raised, the wicked are destroyed!
This means that the two resurrections occur at different times. Transition: What will happen to the wicked that are killed at the second coming?
5. Jeremiah 25:30-33
Verse 33 tells us that the wicked will be spread from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth. Where at this point are the righteous? They have been taken to heaven! Transition: The second coming of Jesus begins the Millennium. Revelation 19 describes the second coming of Jesus and is followed by Revelation 20 that describes the Millennium.
The Millennium:
6. Revelation 20:1-3
How long is Satan
bound?----------1,000 years Here is
the Millenium
Satan is bound in a
“bottomless pit” = “abussos.” THIS
IS THE VERY SAME WORD THAT IS USED IN THE GREEK TRANSLATION OF THE OLD TESTAMENT
IN GENESIS 1:2. Satan is bound by
his chains of circumstance! The
righteous are not on the earth any more and the wicked are dead!
Transition:
Jeremiah once again brings light to this point in …
7. Jeremiah 4:23-27
Verse 26 tell us the context of the passage...“broken down at the presence of the LORD...” ie the second coming. This earth is a bottom less pit of ruin and destruction. “Yet,” God says, “I will not make a full end.” Hang that on a hook in your mind and we will pull it off later. Transition: Destruction is all over the face of the earth, the wicked are dead, where are the righteous?
8. Revelation 20:6, 4
The righteous are reigning with Christ for 1,000 years! Transition: What will the righteous be doing during that 1,000 year period that Satan is bound to this earth?
The righteous are judging
the wicked:
9. 1 Corinthians 6:2
It is during the 1,000 year period that the saints are judging the world. Transition: Look at what Paul says two chapters earlier...
10. 1 Corinthians 4:5
Judge nothing before the time, before the Lord comes! It is only after the Lord has come that we start judging the world and the angels. Transition: What will be the standard for the judgment?
11. Psalm 149:4-9
Verse 4--When is it that the Lord beautifies the meek with salvation? At the second coming.
Verse 5--Where are the saints? In Glory.
Verse 6--What do the saints have in their hands? A two-edged sword! What is this a representation of?
12. Ephesians 6:17--The Word of God! The saints that judge the world and angels have the Word of God as the standard for their judging!
We have a choice to make at this point...Do we want to be judged or to do the judging? Transition: When does the resurrection of the wicked take place? Remember that the wicked are dead for the 1,000 year period, the righteous are with Christ for the 1,000 year period.
Wicked are resurrected at
the end of the Millennium to be destroyed:
13. Revelation 20:4b-5a
Verse 4b--Who is it that was living and reigning with Christ for the 1,000 year period? The saints.
Verse 5--Who then is the rest of the dead? It has to be the wicked! The wicked are raised at the end of the 1,000 year period
14. Revelation 20:7, 8, 9a, 11-13, 9b, 14-15
Verse 7--Satan is loosed from his “chains” when the wicked are raised. Now he can tempt someone again...the wicked who chose to listen to him in the first place.
Verse 8--Gog and Magog is defined in the text as the “four quarters of the earth.”
Verse 9a--The wicked try to attack the city
Verse 11-13--Great white throne judgment.
Verse 9b--Fire pours down out of heaven and destroys the wicked
Verse 14-15--Death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire...the second death...eternal death! Transition: What happens to the earth after that?
Righteous inherit the
earth:
15. Matthew 5:5
Jesus promised the earth as an inheritance to those who humble/meek. Transition: So Jesus recreates this earth and makes it new.
16. 2 Peter 3:12-13
God will create a new heavens and a new earth. Transition: Back to perfection!
17. Revelation 21:1-5
John sees what your heart has been longing for.

The subject f death has intrigued many through the ages . . .
What happens to a person when they die? Does
a person goes to heaven or hell when they die? Can we communicate with the dead?
In search for answers to these and many other questions about death, men
has come up with a wide range of answers. But,
how can we know for certain the answer to this questions?
The Bible provides clear answers . . .
To understand death we must look at how life originated . . .
1. Genesis 2:7 - Dust (body) + Breath (spirit) = Living Soul/Living Being
1.Cheese (Queso) + Tortilla = Quesadilla
What happens when a person dies?
2. Ecclesiastes 12:7 (Genesis 3:19) - Death is the opposite of life. The Bible explains it clearer . . .
3. Psalm 104:29,30 - Living Soul/ Living Being - Breath (spirit) = Dust/Death
What is the spirit that returns to God?
4. James 2:26 - “the body without the spirit is dead” The Hebrew word for breath is ruach. It means air, wind or spirit. At death this spirit or breath returns to God.
Let’s see how the Bible describes death . . .
5. John 11:11-14 - death = sleep. There are more than 50 references in the Bible where death is compared to sleep.
We are going to look at a few verses that describe the state of the dead . . .
6. Ecclesiastes 9:5,6 - the dead know nothing.
7. Psalm 146:4 - thoughts= perish
8. Revelation 14:13 - rest from their labours
But, isn’t the soul immortal? Well, let’s see what the Bible says about that . . .
9. Ezekiel 18:4 - soul that sinneth it SHALL die
In fact the Bible tells us that there is only one who is immortal . . .
10. 1 Timothy 6:15,16 - only God is immortal
So then where do the dead go when they die?
11. Job 21:32 - to the grave . . . REMAIN in the tomb
Does that mean that a good person when they die they do not go to heaven?
Well let’s see . . . the Bible makes it clear that David is saved. Is he in heaven now?
12. Acts 2:29, 34 - Not in heaven.
Then, when will God’s people receive immortality?
13. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 - at the second coming
14. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 - second coming
Appeal:
15.
1
John 5:11-13- The Bible makes it clear that only God is immortal.
Eternal life is promised to those who receive Jesus.
Is it your desire to experience the LIFE that Jesus gives?

Introduction:
Genesis 1,2 - We see a perfect God, in a perfect world in face-to-face communication with perfect people.
Genesis 3 - Revelation 20 - God trying to get back to face-to-face communication with His people.
Revelation 21,22 - We see a perfect God, in a perfect world in face-to-face communication with perfect people.
This is why we see God telling Moses to make a Sanctuary in Exodus 25.
1. Exodus 25:8,9 - Why did God want a Sanctuary built? So that He could dwell among them. Where did God want to be? Among His people.
1.9 - Pattern - remember this for later in the study.
God shows Moses a pattern on how to built the Sanctuary. In order to show that Jesus is a fulfillment of that Sanctuary we will read our next verse.
2. Matthew 1:23 (John 1:14) - Jesus comes to earth and one of His names is Immanuel which means, “God with us.” Where did God want to be? Among His people. Therefore Jesus is a fulfillment of this earthly Sanctuary.
2.John 1:14 - “dwelt” = tabernacle. Jesus was in verity (a true principle of belief, one of fundamental importance) the OT Sanctuary.
We will see Jesus in every aspect of this earthly Sanctuary. When someone came to the earthy Sanctuary they were coming to be with God. God’s presence dwelt in the Most Holy Place.
Entrance
3.
John 14:6 - What’s the only
way that we can get to the Father? Through
Jesus. How did people get to the Father in the Sanctuary? By
going through the entrance.
3.Jesus is a reflection of whom? His Father.
Altar of Burnt Offering - where the sacrificial animal
was burned: fat, kidneys, caul - Leviticus 4:8,9
4. John 1:29 (Hebrews 12:29) - Everything burnt on the altar was a representation of sin. Christ is the sacrificial animal that was consumed on the altar of burnt offering.
4.Hebrews 12:29 - Jesus is the fire that consumed sin.
We can let God consume sin in us now, or we can let God consume us at the end of the 1000 years.
Laver - Where the priest would be washed. Symbolic of washing away sin or filth. (Exodus 29:4--Moses was instructed to wash Aaron and Aaron’s sons with water.
Exodus 30:18-21--Priest was to wash before going into the temple or he would die.)
5. John 13:10-14 - Jesus must wash us as well before we can see God Face to face.
Now we’re going to go into the Holy Place of the Sanctuary. Only the Priests could go into the Holy Place and only the High Priest could go into the most Holy Place. We’re going to turn to the left.
Golden Lamp Stand
6. Exodus 25:31-37 - (31,36,37) Characteristics: pure gold, shaped by being hammered/beaten, give light.
7. Isaiah 53:5 (John 8:12) - Prophecy about Jesus being beaten for us. He was the pure lamp stand that was beaten to give light to the world.
7.John 8:12 - Jesus is the light that shines so that we are not in darkness and that we may have life.
Table of Showbread - two stacks of bread, each had six loaves. Every Sabbath the Priests would make 12 loaves of fresh bread and replace the old loaves. (Leviticus 24:5-8 Matthew 12:5) Bread of His presence.
8. John 6:35,51 - Jesus is the bread of life, the bread of His presence in the earthly Sanctuary.
8.Jesus is the Word made flesh, He is the bread of life, His words are life.
Altar of Incense
9. Exodus 30:1,7,8 - to burn incense every morning and evening, supposed to smell good. A perpetual sweet smell before the Lord.
10. Psalm 141:2 - Our prayers are like the incense that was offered before the veil in the Holy Place.
11. Revelation 8:4 - The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints ascended before God.
Who is it that ever lives to make intercession for us?
12. Hebrews 7:25 - Jesus is the One who presents our prayers before the Father. It is His sacrifice that makes our prayers sweet to the Father.
13. Ephesians 5:2 - It is Christ’s sacrifice that is a sweet smelling savor before God.
We will now enter the Most Holy Place of the Sanctuary. Only the High Priest was allowed to enter the Most Holy Place and only on one day of the year: Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur.
Ark of the Covenant
14. Hebrews 9:4 - We see the tables of the covenant inside the ark of the covenant. This ark is inside the Most Holy Place! These tables of the covenant are the commandments of Jesus.
15. John 14:15 - Jesus asks us to keep His commandments! They are His. He is represented inside the Most Holy Place by His Law.
16. Hebrews 8:1,2 - Remember in Exodus 25:9 we talked about a pattern.
16.Jesus is the High Priest in the Sanctuary that the
Lord pitched, not the one that man set-up. When Moses is shown a pattern what is
He shown a pattern of? The Heavenly
Sanctuary.
16.There is a Sanctuary in Heaven.
16.Where is Jesus is our High Priest? In the Heavenly Sanctuary.
16.The Heavenly Sanctuary is the pattern that God showed Moses.
Jesus is a fulfillment of all the furniture in the OT earthly Sanctuary.
In the OT earthly Sanctuary there were two types of ministry:
1. Daily Ministration: People would confess their sins and their sins were transferred to the Sanctuary through the blood/flesh of the sacrificial animal.
2. Yearly Ministration: Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement, Day of Judgement) the day that the Sanctuary was cleansed of sin.
17. Leviticus 4:1-7 - the daily ministration of the earthly Sanctuary.
18. Leviticus 16 - the yearly ministration of the earthly Sanctuary: Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement).
Jesus fulfills the daily and the yearly ministration all before He comes back.
19. Revelation 22:11,12 - Jesus makes the determination of who is unjust and filthy, who is righteous and holy.
19.12 - Has Jesus come yet? No.
Prior to Jesus’ second coming the judgement/atonement is complete.
Next week we’ll study when the Day of Atonement happens in
Heaven.
Appeals: The reason the Sanctuary was made was so that God would dwell with men. 1 Corinthians 6:19,20 our bodies are the temple of God.
There was something that kept Him from doing that, sin.
Is there anything in your life that would keep Jesus from dwelling in you?
Don’t confess this to me, confess it to God.
Matthew 19:26 Nothing is impossible for God.
God can save, God can take it out of your life.
Get them to accept Christ into their life and allow Christ to
cleanse them from sin.
Simple Questions with
Simple Answers:
1. Q: Since there is no sin in heaven why is there a Sanctuary?
1.A: There has to be somewhere to deal with the sin.
1.Revelation 21:22 after sin is destroyed there will be no more Sanctuary.

13.How was it confirmed? By those who heard.
13.It was preached for the last 3.5 years by those who had heard Him teaching.
Jesus of Nazareth IS the promised Messiah.

If we take out the 70th week, the gospel would never get to us.
Appeals: Jesus is the focus of the 70 week prophecy, is Jesus the focus of your life?
If not, what would keep you from making Him the focus of your life?
If there is something in our life that is keeping us from focusing on God, here’s what the Bible says we can do about it, 1 John 1:9.
Next week we’ll learn about a bigger time prophecy that the 70 weeks was cut off of.

1.
2. Q: Daniel 9:26 Did Jesus destroy Jerusalem and the sanctuary?
2.A: No.
2.70 AD Titus destroyed Jerusalem

2.End with a flood, water = people Revelation 17:15, = army of the Romans.
2.Destruction is determined until the end of the war.
2.9:27 - Abomination - the Romans destroying Jerusalem
2.Even until the end of all things, the sanctuary and Jerusalem will be desolate.
2.The end determined shall be poured upon the desolator. (The desolator will receive the same end as the place that is desolate).

4 - Horizontal power, stays on the face of the earth, became great
5 - Male goat which has a notable horn between its eyes
6 - Goat attacks Ram
7 - Goat breaks Rams two horns and destroys him
8 - Goat became very great, the notable horn breaks and four horns replace it which grew up to the four winds of heaven
9 - Out of one of the four winds comes a little horn which becomes exceedingly great.
10 - Grew up - vertical power. Cast down host and stars to the ground and tramples them
11 - Exalts himself as high as the Prince of the host.
“He” = Little horn
“Him” = Little horn - takes away the daily
“His” = The Prince of the host

21 - Goat = Greece, Notable Horn = first King - Alexander the Great
22 - Four horns = four kingdoms, but not with its (Alexander’s) power
23 - latter time of their (four kingdoms) kingdom. Another King arises who understands sinister schemes (Papal Rome). We know that the little horn is Papal Rome by comparing it to Daniel 2 and Daniel 7.
24 - Little Horn has power that is not his own. Where did the little horn get its power? Revelation 13:1,2 Power comes from the dragon. Revelation 12:9 dragon = serpent, devil, satan.
538 AD - 1798 AD = 1260 prophetic days/literal years that the papacy has dominion. (50-100 million Christians were destroyed). He did it in the name of God.
Destroys mighty and holy people - fulfillment of Daniel 8:10 cast down host and stars.
25 - Magnifies himself in his heart - Isaiah 14:12-15 (stars = angels Revelation 1:20) On the North side of the sanctuary was the table of showbread = the table of His presence. Little horn is a representation of satan working through an earthly power to magnify himself.
Stands up against the Prince of princes - Jesus. When Jesus ascended into Heaven, He became our High Priest in the Heavenly Sanctuary. Performs the daily ministry of the Heavenly Sanctuary: transferring the sin from the people onto the animal, sacrificing the animal and taking the blood into the Sanctuary. The little horn stands against this by having confession.
Broken without human means: During the reformation the power of the papacy was broken via Bible study. Secondary meaning: Second coming of Jesus.
26 - 1st Vision = “mareh” 2nd Vision = “hazon”
27 - Vision = “mareh”, no one understood it
Gabriel was commanded to help Daniel understand, but now Daniel is saying that no one understands. Gabriel was unable to finish explaining it because Daniel fainted and got sick. Every part of the vision was explained except for the “mareh” which is the part that he needed to understand.
10. Daniel 9:20-24
21 - Vision = “hazon”
22 - Gabriel comes to give Daniel skill to understand
23 - Vision = “mareh” (the element where the two men were speaking)
24 - 70 weeks are cut off (chathak) of the 2300 days of the “mareh” that Daniel didn’t understand
490 days of the 2300 days = 1810 more years
70 week prophecy ended fall 34 AD + 1810 = fall 1844
In 1844 was there an earthly
Sanctuary? No.
What Sanctuary is left? The Heavenly Sanctuary.
Jesus is in the Holy Place from His ascension until 1844 performing the daily ministry of the Heavenly Sanctuary.
In 1844 He moves into the Most Holy Place to perform the yearly ministry.
1844 was the beginning of the cleansing of the Sanctuary in Heaven.
When Jesus ascended to Heaven He had to follow the pattern of the early Sanctuary service so He had to go to the Holy Place first to do the daily ministration.
11. Mark 16:19 - Jesus sits on the right hand of God. God’s throne is in the Holy Place, symbolized in the earthly Sanctuary by the table of showbread - bread of His presence.
Do you want to see a Biblical picture of Jesus and the Father in the Holy Place?
12. Revelation 1:12,13 - John sees Jesus among the lamp stands, which are in the Holy Place.
Now we’ll see a picture of God’s throne moving from the Holy Place, into the Most Holy Place.
13.
Daniel 7:9-14
9 - Thrones being set-up, the Ancient of Days was seated. There are burning wheels on God’s throne. It has wheels so that it can move.
10 - The court was seated (literal translation: began to sit), books are opened
11-13 - When Jesus goes into the Heavenly Sanctuary, the daily that was performed on earth is recognized as done in Heaven. This judgment is after all of the kingdoms.
Jesus comes to the Ancient of Days (God the Father) and judgment begins. This is what William Miller missed, he didn’t realize that Jesus came to the Father, not to the earth.
What is Jesus doing in the Most Holy Place?
14. Malachi 3:1-6 - Explain refiners job: crucible, fire, dross (impurities on the top). The heat of the fire caused the impurities to come out. The refiner knows that the metal is pure when he can see his own reflection in the metal perfectly. The refiner would not leave the metal in the fire too long or else it would evaporate.
Those who are dead are judged according to their lives. Those who are alive are being refined by His fire.
Appeals: Are you willing to let the refiner purify you?
The 2300 day prophecy is the last time prophecy in scripture. Ever since 1844 we have been living in the end of time. The reason Jesus has not come yet is because He has yet to find a people that perfectly reflect His character.
We will stand in the sight of a Holy God without an
intercessor. Are you prepared for that? If Jesus were to come back tomorrow, if
He made the determination today, “He that is filthy, let him be filthy still
and He that is holy, let him be holy still,” what group would you be in? I
want to be in the group that is declare righteous. I trust that God in His grace
will make the right decision.

1.4 - Nicodemus is still focused on the external
1.5 - What does it mean to be born of the Spirit?
1.6 - What does the flesh produce? Flesh. What does the Spirit produce? Spirit.
1.
2. Galatians 5:19-25
2.Does the flesh inherit the Kingdom of God? No.
2.7,8 - Everyone must be born of the Spirit in order to inherit the Kingdom of God.
2.To be born of the Spirit means to be converted, no longer producing the flesh, but producing the fruits of the Spirit.
2.The water is a clear reference to baptism.
2.
3. Mark 16:16 - He who believes (is converted) and is baptized will be saved. He who does not believe will be condemned. Baptism is a natural result of conversion.
4. Ephesians 4:5 - One
Let’s look at some examples of baptisms in the Bible. We will begin by looking at Jesus’ baptism. He is our example so it is important to find out the manner of His baptism.
5. Mark 1:9,10 -Jesus comes up out of the water indicating that He must have been in the water. “was baptized of John” The word there “baptized” in Greek “baptidzo” means to immerse, submerge, to make fully wet
Let’s look at one more example . . .
6. Acts 8:36-39 - “and they went down into the water . . . And when they were come up out of the water . . .”
It is interesting to see what caused John the Baptist to choose the location he chose for baptisms . . .
7. John 3:23 - Why did John choose this location? “because there was much water there”. Why was it important that there was much water there? You need much water to fully immerse someone in it.
The method of baptism is dictated by the meaning of baptism. Let’s see that in . . .
8. Romans 6:1-6
8.Baptism is a symbol of:
8.1. The death of Jesus - cessation of breath
8.2. The burial of Jesus - being put under or in something
8.3. The resurrection of Jesus - coming out of, or out from under what you were put in
8.So that we are no longer producing the work of the flesh
8.How many types of baptism have you seen in your life? Immersion, sprinkling.
8.The only method that fits all three points is immersion.
Three Biblical Preconditions to Baptism
9. Matthew 28:18-20 - Understand Jesus teachings
10. 1 John 5:4-6 - Have faith
11. Acts 8:26-37 - example of understanding and believing
12. Acts 2:37,38 - Repentance
Can a child comply with any of these steps? NO. Then we can conclude that the Bible doesn’t support/approve the baptism of a child until he/she is old enough to understand the teachings of the Bible and to repent from his/her sins.
If you were baptized as a baby, your parents intentions were to put you in the hands of God. But, your parents best intentions can not take the place of God’s Word!
Appeals: Acts 2:38, 2
Corinthians 6:2
Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you will receive the Holy Spirit. Prior to baptism the Holy Spirit works from the outside in, after baptism the Holy Spirit begins working from the inside out.
Is there anything that would keep you from being baptized?
Jesus told Nicodemus that unless a man is born from above he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Is it your desire to enter into the kingdom of God?

One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer’s inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar. 3 Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, where it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer’s inkhorn at his side; 4 and the Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.” 5 To the others He said in my hearing, “Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. 6 Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the temple. 7 Then He said to them, “Defile the temple, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out!” And they went out and killed in the city. 8 So it was, that while they were killing them, I was left alone; and I fell on my face and cried out, and said, “Ah, Lord God! Will You destroy all the remnant of Israel in pouring out Your fury on Jerusalem?” 9 Then He said to me, “The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see!’ 10 And as for Me also, My eye will neither spare, nor will I have pity, but I will recompense their deeds on their own head.” 11 Just then, the man clothed with linen, who had the inkhorn at his side, reported back and said, “I have done as You commanded me.” |

Used for thinks, reasoning. cherub = angel Mark = Seal in Revelation Think, God's sanctuary contains the ark of the convent which contains the 2-stone tablets written by the Finger of God. Revelation
14:12
Revelation 14:7 and Revelation 14:12 are book ends to the prescription for worshipping God.
Revelation 14:7 tells us to worship the Creator
Revelation 14:12 tells us that those who worship the Creator are called
“saints.” And the definition of
a “saint” here in Revelation 14:12
is a commandment keeper that has the
faith of Jesus.
Where does this call to worship the Creator come from?
The Fourth Commandment. The very one that said for us to remember!
Worshipping the Creator on His day of worship keeps us from receiving the mark of the beast!
Obedience = Service = Worship
A saint is consumed with loving obedience to his/her creator
A saint is sealed with God’s Seal.
5. Revelation 7:1-3
God’s people are sealed with His Seal and thereby will avoid the wrath of God that is poured out on those who have the mark of the beast!
There is an Old Testament example of this in Ezekiel 9.
6. Ezekiel 9:1-11
Where do we find this “mark” of God, this “seal” of God?
Isaiah 8:16 will show us.
7. Isa 8:16
Bind up the testimony seal the Law among my disciples.
God’s Seal is found in God’s Law.
That makes sense. Revelation 14:12 said that a saint was one who keeps the commandments of God and has the faith of Jesus!
And a saint is the one who does not get the mark of the beast!
In order for a document to be legal it must be sealed.
God’s Law is sealed.
A seal must have three items: 1) Name, 2) Title, 3) Territory of the one in authority.
Prior to locating the seal located in God’s Law we will notice that the beast power wants to change something about God.
9.
Daniel 7:25
The beast power wants to change God’s Time and Law.
What commandments does the beast power focus on when he seeks to change God’s Law?
1) Commandment 2--Worshipping images
2) Commandment 4--Sabbath Commandment
Which one of these commandments contain the Seal of God?
10.
Exodus 20:8-11
Remember that we are looking for three essentials in a seal: 1) Name, 2) Title, 3) Territory
The only one that contains all three essentials is the fourth commandment!
We have located the Seal of God...the Sabbath!
God’s Law is sealed among those followers of His that lovingly keep His whole Law including the weekly seventh-day Sabbath!
The Sabbath commandment, the seal of God is the beasts focus at the end of time.
If the beast can keep you from worshipping the Creator, you will receive the mark of the beast.
If you willingly worship/serve the beast you will receive the beast’s mark!
If you willingly ignore God’s call to worship Him as the Creator you will receive the beast’s mark.
Does God ever force worship? No
Does the beast ever force worship? Yes
11.
Revelation 13:15, 16
The mark of the beast will be enforced by the beast.
Enforced to the point of death for those who refuse to worship him in his prescribed way.
The mark of the beast is the opposite of the seal of God!
What is the opposite of the seventh day of the week?
The first day of the week.
The beast has substituted a regular working day with the sanctified and blessed day of God!
Does it matter to God how we worship Him? It does.
Able or Cain
Aaron or Nadab and Abihu
Elijah or the prophets of Baal
Saints or the deceived
Four Clues to Identify the Mark of the Beast
12. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 - In describing “antichrist” or “the man of sin” what does the prophet call him? The son of perdition.
12.
12.The only other time in the Bible this phrase is used in the Bible is to describe Judas Iscariot, an apparent supporter of Christianity.
12.
12.The coming of Jesus will not come until a falling away happens. Can you fall away from something you’re not attached to? No. The anti-christ reality is something that was once apparently Christian because it has to have something to fall away from.
13. John 17:12
13.Was Judas a man violently opposed to Christianity? No.
13.What is the Bible hinting at?
13.
13.Clue #1: The mark is apparently Christian
14. Deuteronomy 6:5-8
Was God literally telling His people to attach His Word to their hands and foreheads? No. So what did He mean?
He meant that His Law should ever be in their minds and govern the actions of their hands.
15. Rev 12:9
This verse says the beast deceives the whole world. If the Mark of the Beast is something that is tattooed on you or a barcode on your hand or forehead is that deception?
Clue #2: The mark is deceptive.
Clue #3: Contrasted to God’s commandments - If you find a commandment of the beast that contrasts a commandment of God, we’ll find the mark of the beast.
Clue #4: The mark of the beast, is the mark of the beast.
Who’s the beast? Antichrist - Roman church state.
16. Romans 4:11
A seal is the same as a sign.
What is the sign that we serve the Creator God?
17. Exodus 31:13 - The Sabbath is a sign between God and us.
To ensure that you do not receive the mark of the beast, (1) keep the commandments, (2) keep the Sabbath as shown in the commandments.
18.
Revelation 13:15-17
Individuals will receive the mark of the beast when the beast enforces his form of worship and you accept it.
The Bible tells us that a time is coming when the Antichrist power, the Roman Church State will enforce it’s mark of authority which is contrary to God’s Seal.
What has the papacy put in place of the Seal of God? Sunday worship.
The decisions that you make today turn you into the person that you will be tomorrow. If you will not chose to serve and obey Christ today, how will you be able to when the Sunday mark is enforced.
If you can’t be faithful to God today, when it’s easy and no one is
trying to kill you, what makes you think you’ll be able to be faithful at that
time?
How can you be prepared to be faithful?
Are you willing to not only avoid the mark of the beast at
the end of time but to make decisions today to prepare for tomorrow?
Simple Questions with
Simple Answers:
1. Q: Does everyone who goes to church on Sunday have the mark of the beast?
1.A: Revelation 13:15-17 Cause
1.Is anyone causing you to worship on Sunday right now? No.
Extra:
Revelation 14:11 - Those who have the mark have no rest because they are not keeping the Sabbath.

Rev 13:15. Second beast in

9.Following the Biblical pattern what is at least one
thing that would have to be a major theme for the prophet that God would raise
up around 1844. Of course the 2300 days. Out of all these and a few others not
listed, only one even mentions the text of Daniel 8:14. Not only is it
mentioned, but is written about in great detail.
9.The question,
What is the sanctuary? is clearly answered in the Scriptures. The term
"sanctuary," as used in the Bible, refers, first, to the tabernacle
built by Moses, as a pattern of heavenly things; and, secondly, to the
"true tabernacle" in heaven, to which the earthly sanctuary pointed.
At the death of Christ the typical service ended. The "true
tabernacle" in heaven is the sanctuary of the new covenant. And as the
prophecy of Daniel 8:14 is fulfilled in this dispensation, the sanctuary to
which it refers must be the sanctuary of the new covenant. At the termination of
the 2300 days, in 1844, there had been no sanctuary on earth for many centuries.
Thus the prophecy, "Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall
the sanctuary be cleansed," unquestionably points to the sanctuary in
heaven. (GC 417)

Thessalonians 5:19-21
16.There would be no reason for Paul to say not to
despise prophesying unless people may. Why would someone despise a prophet? It
too is a pattern that is all through the scriptures. (1) They don’t like what
the prophet says because they don’t want to change. (2) Because they’ve had
bad experiences with false prophets.
16.
16.The Bible is clear that God has a pattern of
raising up a prophet for HIS people at just the right time. As the 2300 days
expired God would raise up a prophet to point HIS people to what HE is doing.

Is it confusing that there are many different denominations that teach many different things from the exact same book? Is it confusing that there are so many different denominations? Do you think this was God’s design?
1.
1 Corinthians 14:33 - According
to this verse was it God’s design that there are so many different churches? No, God is not the author of confusion.
Who is the designer of all this confusion?
2. John 10:10-12 - The devil (wolf) scatters and divides the sheep because he wants to destroy.
Does Jesus care? Do you suppose Christ has a plan?
3. John 10:16 - God’s plan is to have one flock and one shepherd. He will gather them with His voice.
3.
How do we hear Christ’s voice?
4. 2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is God breathed - the voice of God. We hear God’s voice by reading His Word.
Six Characteristics of the True Church
5. 1 Timothy 3:15 - Paul tells us that the church is the pillar and ground of what? Truth.
5.If a church teaches what is not true, it cannot be the foundation of truth, the “one fold.”
5.Ask the person some questions about what their church teaches: state of the dead, Sabbath, etc. Can your church be the true church when it is teaching things that are not true? No. If the Holy Spirit is guiding us into truth, do you think God wants you to stay in your church?
5.
5.#1: Foundation of truth
5.
6. Revelation 12:1 - A “sign” = this is not a literal woman.
6.
Who is the woman?
7. 2 Corinthians 11:2 (Ephesians 5:31-33) - The church. Paul compares the people of God to a chaste virgin. Paul is speaking to the believers in Corinth, he tells them that he has betrothed/espoused/married the church and Jesus.
7.
8. Revelation 12:2-6,13 - Who does the dragon attempt to kill as soon as he is born? The child who will rule the nations. Does he succeed? No. When he doesn’t succeed what does he do? Goes after the woman. Where does the woman go and for how long? Into the wilderness for 1260 days.

Do you want to follow Christ’s voice?
His voice is His Word and in His Word we’ve seen eight characteristics. We’ve seen that the Seventh-Day Adventist church is the only church that fits those characteristics. His voice is calling you into the Adventist church.
I found Jesus on the cross. Jesus gave up Heaven and earth for me, so I couldn’t talk to Jesus about what I’d have to give up. All I could do was realize that I need to pick up my cross and follow Him. (What I’d have to give up, lose my friends, be made fun of.)
Will you follow Christ into the Seventh-Day Adventist church?

In studying about Stewardship there is a VERY important principle we must establish first:
1. Deuteronomy 10:14 - everything belongs to God
Who usually decides what happens in a home or a business? the owner.
What is a steward? A person who manages another’s property or financial affairs.
A person who has many possessions usually puts someone in charge of those possessions. We just saw that God is the owner of ALL. Let’s see who He puts in charge of all His possessions . . .
2. Genesis 1:26 - Here God assigned Adam as the steward of everything on this earth. Adam represents mankind here. We are stewards of God. Everything we own, even our lives belong to Him.
Let’s see what God requires for us to do with what He has entrusted to us . . .
Money
3. Malachi 3:8-10 - What was God expecting them to bring? tithe and offering.
What is a tithe? It is the tenth or 10% of our earnings.
Is that all God asks from us? No, He also asks for an offering. Free will gift of
thanksgiving beyond the tithe.
What does He consider those who do not give Him tithe and offering? Robbers/thief
In other words this is considered as breaking one of God’s commandment. Thou shall not steal.
Where does it say to bring the tithe? Into the storehouse. Where is the storehouse? Is it a room in my house? Could it be a savings account in the bank? Like good students of the Bible, let’s see what the Bible says . . .
4. Nehemiah 10:37,38 - to the house of our God, God’s house=church
Some may say, well I can’t trust the church. So, I keep it and give it to the poor and needy myself. Well, let’s see what Jesus says about giving to a church that can not be trusted . . .
5. Luke 21:1-4 - Jesus knows that the church was in apostasy, they were even plotting to kill Him. So, when He sees this, He quickly says: “NO, don’t give your money to the church, don’t you know they are going to misuse it? Is that what He said? NO. Instead, Jesus commends her for giving despite the condition of the church.
Some may say, well you know it is my money it really isn’t God’s because I’m the one that works to earn it. If I don’t go to work, no money comes. So, it’s mine! Let’s see what the Bible says about that . . .
6. Deuteronomy 8:18 - Who gives you even the strength to work? God. You wouldn’t even be alive if it wasn’t for Him.
Let us look at a story that will help us understand clearer this concept of stewardship . . .
7. Mark 10:17-30
vs. 17-23 - What a sad story!!
What did this young man have? great possessions
How many of those possessions does he own now? None of them.
How much did he gain by keeping these possessions? Nothing
How much did he loose? EVERYTHING
Jesus says “How hardly . . .” This left the disciples surprised. And Jesus went on . . .
vs. 24-25 - Here Jesus illustrates this concept by using a camel-one of the largest land animals in Palestine and the eye of a needle - one of the smallest openings known to the Jews of the day. Here he presents an IMPOSSIBILITY! This left the disciples confused . . .
Basically Jesus is saying it is IMPOSSIBLE for a rich man to make it to heaven. But, this presents a problem in the disciples minds, and in ours . . . what about Abraham, Job, David, they all had great possessions and from the Bible account we can deduct that the will be in heaven. Praise the Lord Jesus didn’t leave the disciples confused, let us continue reading to see what He says . . .
vs. 26-27 - “With man it is impossible” - it is impossible for a man who has riches to make it to heaven, but then it says . . .
“but not with God; for with God all things are possible” - if a man surrenders all His riches to God, then the man as well as the riches are with God and with God all things are possible”
While we are holding on to the riches, it is impossible for us to make it to heaven, but once we surrender it all to God, then the way is clear for us. When you surrender it all to Him, then you are leaving it to Him to decide to do with it. It is God’s greatest desire that you are in heaven, so if He sees that the riches will keep you from being saved, He will take them from you.
vs. 28-30
What is the promise He give to those who leave all?
How much did God give for us? ALL
8. Luke 14:37 (Matthew 10:37) - God asks us to give it all
9. Luke 5:27-29 - How much did the Levi left? ALL
But, it goes on to say that after that the Levi made him a great east in his house. If he left all, how does he still have a house and how is he able to give a feast?
To leave/give all means to surrender it all to God. In other words, you are willing and ready to give any or all of it at any time God asks of you.
When He ask us to give it all, what is He asking us to do? to be like Him.
We established at the beginning that how much belongs to God? EVERYTHING! Not just money, everything! When we talk about stewardship we usually thing of money, but God wants us to be good stewards of ALL that He has given us.
Money - some have much, some have little
But there is something God gave us that we all have the same amount of, what is that? TIME. Time is one of God’s greatest gift! Let’s look at some principles in the Bible of what God expects us to do with our time . . .
Time
10.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 - pray
without ceasing
11.
John 5:39 - search the
scriptures
12. Matthew 28:18-20 - we are to take part in the work of spreading the gospel.
13. James 1:27 - ministering to people in need
14. Matthew 25:34-36 - ministering to people in need
Some may say, well I just don’t have time! But, we all have the same amount of time, it is all about how we use the time that we have.
Talents
15. Romans 12:4-11 - dedicate your talents to God by using them in the work of the church
Our Bodies
16. Romans 12:1-2 - give our bodies a living sacrifice. God expects us to be good stewards of our bodies by adopting good lifestyle habits. We will be learning more about this in a future study.

Christian Living (CL)
Intent
of Study:
The purpose of this Bible Study is (1) to inspire people to live in this
world while not becoming a part of this world, (2) to show that the way we look
on the outside is important to God and our worship of Him.
Focus
it:
The way that we dress is an outward indication of our inward person.
Jesus desires that we reflect His character on the outside as well as on
the inside.
Sacrifice (This is an illustration added to help
convey the point of the study.)
A chaplain was speaking to a soldier on a cot in a
hospital. "You have lost an arm in the great cause," said the
chaplain.
"No," said the soldier with a smile.
"I didn't lose it-I gave it."
Friend in our walk with Jesus we will have to

willingly give it to Him. What will

10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all

Question:
Who is the captain of our Salvation?
a.
We have a Captain!
b.
Jesus Christ.
c.
We are soldiers of Christ!

2 Timothy 2:3, 4
3 You therefore must endure[a] hardship as a good
soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with
the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.
a.
As soldiers we should not become involved with the
affairs of this life!
b.
As soldiers we should seek to please our Captain!
Question:
What will the faithful soldiers receive by pleasing the Captain of their
Salvation?
3.
Hebrews 11:5
5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not
see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was
taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Question:
Why was Enoch translated?
a.
Enoch was translated because he pleased God!
Transition
to next verse: Paul tells us in 1
Thessalonians 4:1 that we should live to please God.
4.
SLIDE--1 Thessalonians 4:1
4:1 Furthermore
then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort [you] by the Lord Jesus, that as ye
have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, [so] ye would
abound more and more.
a.
We are to walk (live) to please God.
There are many different ways that we can walk/live
to please God.
This Bible Study is to show how a soldier of Christ
reflects God’s Will in the way that he/she dresses.
Let’s begin with the Christian Soldier’s way of
dressing:
5.
Genesis 3:7
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and
they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made
themselves coverings.
a.
Adam and Eve made themselves coverings/aprons
b.
“Covering” in Hebrew is “Khagore,” meaning
girdle.
c.
How much does a girdle cover? ONLY THE PRIVATE PARTS!
Transition
to the next text:
What happened after Adam and
Eve made for themselves “coverings?”
Adam and Eve tried to make
something that would cover up their sinful nakedness.
They tried to make what,
through sin, they had lost. A
“covering.”
Could they make themselves as beautiful as God had
created them? NO!
So God came and said...
6.
Genesis 3:15
And
I will put enmity
Between you and
the woman,
And between
your seed and her Seed;
He shall bruise
your head,
And you shall
bruise His heel.”
a.
Enmity is introduced meaning that a Savior is
provided!
What did God make for Adam and Eve after they had
accepted the promise of a Redeemer? (Note
that it was God who did the following!)
7.
Genesis 3:21
21 Also for Adam and his wife
the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
a.
“Tunics” = “kethoneth” = to cover, robe
b.
After the Savior is introduced then the uniform
that the Savior expects is given to Adam and Eve.
c.
They were then fully covered.
d.
We are to wear the uniform that is given to us as
Christians.
e.
We are to be fully clothed.
f.
We are not to try to manufacture beauty by being
immodest.
g.
Adam and Eve had made themselves underwear and then
God clothed them or gave them a modest set of clothes.
When it comes to clothing, the
world says, “Take it off,” yet God says, “Put it on.” Many of us today
try to manufacture beauty by wearing jewelry.
Does God say anything about this? He
does! When it comes to outward
adornment the world says, “Put it on,” yet God says, “Take it off!”
Note what Paul says in...
8.
1 Timothy 2:9
In like manner also, that
women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not
with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
Note:
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:2 that he “determined not to know any
thing among you, save Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
Since this was Paul’s motto...
Question:
What Biblical Gospel evidence did Paul have to base this part of the
Gospel on?
9.
Genesis 35:1-5
1 Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel
and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you
fled from the face of Esau your brother.”
Question:
What was the reason for Jacob going to Bethel?
Answer:
To worship God.
2 And Jacob said to his household and to all who
were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify
yourselves, and change your garments.
Note:
Three things that Jacob told his household to do:
1)
Put
away the foreign gods among you
2)
Purify yourselves
3)
Change your garments
3 Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will
make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has
been with me in the way which I have gone.”
4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were
in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them
under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.
Question:
What was the response of Jacob’s family when he asked them to...?
1)
Put away the foreign gods among you
2)
Purify yourselves
3)
Change your garments
Answer:
They gave Jacob the foreign gods carried in their hands, and they gave
Jacob all of the golden earrings which were in their ears.
Note:
Paul used other verses to base this Gospel counsel on...the next that we
will look at is Exodus 33:1-6.
10.
Exodus 33:1-6
1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Depart and go up
from here, you and the people whom you have brought out of the land of Egypt, to
the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your
descendants I will give it.’ 2 And I will send My Angel before you,
and I will drive out the Canaanite and the Amorite and the Hittite and the
Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. 3 Go up to a land flowing
with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on
the way, for you are a stiff-necked people.”
4 And when the people heard this bad news, they
mourned, and no one put on his ornaments. 5 For the LORD had said to
Moses, “Say to the children of Israel, ‘You are a stiff-necked people. I
could come up into your midst in one moment and consume you. Now therefore, take
off your ornaments, that I may know what to do to you.’” 6 So the
children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by Mount Horeb.
Question:
Who is talking in this passage?
Answer:
Verse 1 tells us that the LORD is talking
Question:
According to verse three, why will the LORD not go up into the promised
land with His people?
Answer:
They were stiff-necked or they were rebellious.
Question:
What was the response of the Israelites?
Answer:
They did mourned and did not put on their ornaments.
Note: Some
may say that they do not put on ornaments when they are mourning either.
But was the fact that they were mourning according
to this passage the reason that they did not put their ornaments on?
Note: Verse
5 tells us that the LORD had said (this is past tense)...That means that the
LORD had told them something prior to the people mourning and taking off their
ornaments.
Question:
What had the LORD said to them?
Answer: Continuing
in verse 5 we note that the LORD had said, “...take off your ornaments, that I

Note:
They took off their ornaments because the LORD had told them to take them
off!
Question:
Is it pleasing to the Captain of our Salvation for us to wear ornaments?
Answer: No.
Transition:
In moving to our next verse we will note that a group of people were
known by what they wore.
11.
Judges 8:24
8:24 And
Gideon said unto them, I would desire a request of you, that ye would give me
every man the earrings of his prey. (For they had golden earrings, because they
[were] Ishmaelites.)
Question:
What group of people were known by what they wore?
Answer:
The Ishmaelites.
Question:
According to what we have learned so far...Is it pleasing to the Captain
of our Salvation for us to adorn ourselves with ornaments?
Answer:
No.
Transition:
Hosea married a prostitute because the Lord told him to.
What was her typical ‘uniform’ when she went to be a prostitute?
12.
Hosea 2:13
2:13 And
I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them,
and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her
lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.
Note:
The further one gets from the Lord, the more and more their reflection is
not that of their Captain.
Question:
Is it possible that those who profess to follow God are wearing that
which displeases Him? Is it possible that we are doing something in ignorance (that
just means “not knowing”) that displeases the One that we love the most?
Question:
If the Lord does not want us to be adorned with jewels, what does the
Lord expect us as soldiers in His army to be adorned with?
Transition:
Now back to the message of God through Paul on this topic...
13.
1 Timothy 2:9, 10
9 in like manner also, that the women adorn
themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided
hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,
10 but, which is proper for
women professing godliness, with good works.
Question:
What does God want us to be adorned with?
Answer:
Modest apparel! The very same way that God dressed Adam and Eve.
They were fully clothed.
Question:
What did God not want his soldiers to be adorned with?
Answer:
Braided hair (it was the culture of the day for women to braid gold and
silver strings into their hair), Gold, pearls, costly clothing.
Wesley, the great reformer and founder of the
Methodist congregation, and one of
his preachers were once taking lunch with a gentleman whose daughter had been
greatly impressed by Wesley's preaching. The itinerant, a man of very plain
manners and little tact, was conversing with the young lady, who was remarkable
for her beauty. He noticed that she wore a number of rings, and taking hold of
her hand, he raised it, and called Wesley's attention to the sparkling gems.
"What do you think of this, sir," said he, "for a Methodist's
hand?" The girl turned crimson, and the question was awkward for Wesley,
whose aversion to all display of jewelry was so well known. But the aged
evangelist showed a tact Chesterfield might have envied. With a quiet,
benevolent smile he looked up, and simply said, "The hand is very
beautiful." The young lady appeared at evening service without her jewels,
and became an earnest Christian.

1. Revelation
14:6-7
What does the Bible mean when it says that we are to glorify God? How can we give Him glory? (singing, praying, helping others) What about what we eat and drink?
2. 1 Corinthians 10:31 - Is it possible to eat and drink in a way that would bring glory to God? Is it also possible to eat and drink in such a way that would not bring glory to God? Notice what God has to say about our body.
2.
3. 1 Corinthians 6:19,20 - Someone may say it is my body so I can do what I want, but the Bible says that your Body belongs to God. If you buy a new car and a month later it it trashed, then I will not care. If you borrow my car and bring it back in a month then I would be upset! What does God think about us abusing what He has given us?
3.Take extra good care because our bodies are not our own.
4. 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
God gives us a strong warning about what we should do with our temple. It is not our body, but it belongs to God. If we love Him then why would we want to mess up something that belongs to Him? Now lets look at what God wants for us.
5. 3 John 2 - God loves us and He wants us to be in health. He has provided us with health principles to guide us. The Bible says that God wants us to be as physically healthy as spiritually healthy.
Let’s look at the Biblical guidelines.
6. Daniel 1:8,12-15 - Purposed = decided, put his foot down.
6.Pulse - original Eden diet = grain, nuts, fruit.
6.15 - Healthier and better nourished
Let’s find out God’s original diet for us.
7. Genesis 1:29 - Fruit, seeds, nuts
7.This is the original diet, but what happened in the garden? Adam and Eve ate fruit that they were not supposed to and they lost access to the fruit from the tree of life.
God provided something for them after sin entered.
8. Genesis 3:18 (9:1-3) - Herb of the field = vegetables.
8.Every living thing = this was after the flood so the people already knew which animals were clean and which were unclean - Genesis 7:2
8.Even as the green herbs - they knew there were plants that they should not eat, as there were animals that they should not eat. Since there were only two of the unclean animals, if they would have eaten one we wouldn’t have that animal today.
Does this verse tell us which animals we shouldn’t eat? Let’s look at what the Bible says about clean and unclean animals.
9. Leviticus 11:47 (Leviticus 11) - Leviticus 11 is about what is clean and unclean and between which animals are to be eaten or not.
9.
9.3 - Mammals: cloven hooves and chews cud
9.9 - Fish: fins and scales
9.13-19 - Birds: “Do not eat” birds, birds of prey
9.21-23 - Bugs: Creeps on all fours and has jointed legs above its feet
10. Leviticus 3:17 - No fat or blood
11. Deuteronomy 12:23 - Blood is the life
11.
11.We’ve learned how we can honor God in what we eat, let’s learn about how we can honor God in what we drink.
12. Proverbs 23:29-35 - Don’t even look at it. Drinking it addictive, you are no longer in control of yourself, it controls you.
13. Proverbs 20:1 - Don’t you want to be wise? What does the Bible say about those who drink? They are foolish.
14. 1 Corinthians 6:10 - Will those who drink inherit the Kingdom of God? Drunkards = those who drink. Don’t you want to inherit the Kingdom?
14.Why aren’t people allowed to drive drunk? Alters
your mind, lose control.
14.Why would you want to have that in your life?
14.If you had a dog that bit 1/5 people who came to your house, would you keep it?
14.Statistics show that 1/5 people who drink will become alcoholics.
14.
How can we overcome?
15. Romans 13:14 - Make no provision - stay away!
15.If you struggle with junk food, stay away from the snack aisle.
15.If you struggle with spending money, stay away from the mall.
16. Philippians 4:13 - I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. Not just a few, not some, but ALL things.
17. Psalms 84:11 - God will not withhold good things from us

It was a beautiful sunny day. One of those days you look outside the window and you say to yourself “Oh, can’t stay inside in such a beautiful day as this”. Mother thought to herself, “This is a wonderful day to spend at the park”. So she took her three children to the park. Before they went along to play she warned them not to leave the playground area where the sand was. Michael, he loves to make new friends, so he soon made some new friends and began to play. Victoria saw one of her friends from school there and began to play with her. Little Elizabeth as she often did, followed her sister Victoria. All of a sudden little Elizabeth sees a butterfly. She is captivated by it and begins to follow it. She was so involved with the butterfly that she didn’t realized she was leaving the playground area in the sand and had gone beyond to the grassy area. As she was following this butterfly she came to an anthill behind a big tree. She soon became captivated by the little ants carrying pieces of food and other things to their ant hill. Suddenly mother looks around the playground, she sees Michael, she sees Victoria, but . . . where is little Elizabeth. Mom began to search for her all over the playground. She looked beyond the playground but couldn’t find her. Mom was beginning to get worried. Her heart was filled with anguish. She began to think of the terrible things that could be happening to Elizabeth. “Michael have you seen Elizabeth”. “She is with Victoria” he replied. “Victoria where is Elizabeth”. “She . . . well, she was here a little bit ago. I don’t know where she went.” Michael and Victoria became worried about their little sister Elizabeth and they join mom in the search. Meanwhile Elizabeth didn’t realized she had gone beyond the protection of her mother; she had no idea the danger she had placed herself into. Mom, Michael and Victoria continue to search until they found Elizabeth and brought her safely to her mothers protection.
There is a Father in heaven who has lost His children. His heart is filled with anguish and pain much deeper than this mother could ever fill. Are we like Michael and Victoria going to join in the search for our brothers and sisters or are we going to continue playing while our brethren our out of God’s protection where their lives are at stake? It could be your son, daughter, mother, father, ...will you help God find His children?
1. Matthew 9:35-38 - Jesus had compassion on the multitudes. Do you have compassion on the multitudes?
Why was he so concern about the fact that there were not enough laborers?
2. Romans 10:13-15 - Salvation is in Jesus, and how are they going to receive salvation if they do not know Him, and how are they going to know Him if no one tells them of Him?
Who are the laborers?
3. Matthew 28:18-20 - Who is Jesus sending out as laborers? His disciples
Was He referring just to the 12 disciples? No, to all His disciples through out the ages
How do we know that? “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world”
Has the world ended? No. Are those 12 disciples alive today? No. Then he must be talking to you and me, to all who through the ages have chosen to follow Him.
Many times fear of not having the ability to do the work is what keeps us from doing it, but Jesus gives us words of encouragement here . . . “ALL power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” and His very next words are “Go ye therefore”
When He sends us, His power goes with us.
Who are we to go to? All
nations, everyone
What are we to do? Teach them all that Jesus has commanded.
Can we call ourselves followers of Christ and not take part in the work of saving souls?
4. Matthew 4:19 - “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” If we follow Him what does Jesus says He will do? Make us fishers of men. In other words soul winners.
Then if we are not soul-winners what does that say? We are not following Him!
Think about it, Jesus’ life was all about saving souls. If we are following Him, we will be doing the same thing. Can we be close to Jesus without taking part in His work?
5. John 8:12 - “I am the light of the world”
What does He says about those that follow Him? shall not walk in darkness
Let’s look at it more clearly . . .
6. Matthew 5:14,16 - “Ye are the light of the world” “Let your light so shine . . .”
What does God calls us here? light. If we follow Him we will become light as He is light.
What happens when we become light and let our light shine?
7. Acts 26:16-18 - We will turn others from darkness into light.
Notice that Jesus said: “I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness” When Jesus comes into our lives He makes us witnesses. Witnesses of what? of the things we have seen. Our experience with God, that we have learned and experienced from God.
Let’s look at some examples in the Bible of people who when Jesus appeared unto them they became witnesses for Him.
8. John
1:38-45 - Andrew and Phillip
vs. 38-42
After Andrew saw Jesus who did he tell? His brother.
vs. 43-45
After Philip meets jesus who did he tell? His friend.
Let’s look at another example . . .
9. Luke
8:37-40
Who did he witness to? everyone in the city.
Tell everyone you know, your neighbors, people you work with, your hair dresser, your banker, the person who takes care of you at the store . . . EVERYONE
10.
John
4:3-18, 25-30, 39
vs. 3-4
It says he MUST needs to go through Samaria. Where there no other way to get to Galilee? Why must Jesus go through Samaria? He had a divine appointment.
vs. 5-9
We must not let the differences keep us from witnessing
vs. 10-18
There is no secrets for God. Nothing can be hidden from Him.
vs. 25-30
The woman “left her waterpot” and went to the city and told the men, “come see”
vs. 39
As a result of her faithful witnessing many in that city believed in Jesus
Let us look at one more example . . . We are going to look at John the Baptist. John was chosen for a very special purpose. He was a very powerful witness. What made His witnessing so powerful? Let’s see.
11. Luke 3:16 - “one mightier than I commeth”. Hold that thought, now let us go to . . .
12. John 3:27-30 - “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
What is John doing in both cases? Taking the focus off of him, and pointing the hearer to Christ. Why? We see a clear answer in . . .
13. John 12:32 - Jesus is the center.
13.What happens
when we lift Jesus up in our home, neighborhood, workplace, etc.? He
will draw all men unto Himself.
14. 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 - “God who had reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation” “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ”
You may say, but what are they going to say? What are my neighbors going to think of me if I share Christ with them? My coworkers will think I’m weird if I talk about God. The Bible has some encouraging words for you . . .
15. Romans 1:16 - not ashamed, Why? “for it is the power of God unto salvation.”
Or some may think, it is no point in witnessing to the people I work with they are not interested in hearing about God, they will just rejected. The Bible has some encouraging words for you too . . .
16.
Ezekiel 33:7-9 - Are we
responsible for the results? No, it is up
to the individual to respond. But if we don’t tell them, whose hands will
their blood be on? Mine.
16.Whose blood will be on your hands?
Appeal:
17. John 20:19-21 - “My father hath sent me, even so send I you”

And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkhorn by his side; 4And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. The righteous (God’s holy people) because they have God’s mark, God puts His seal on our forehead. Righteous get God’s seal. 5And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: 6Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house. 7And he said unto them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain: go ye forth. And they went forth, and slew in the city. 8And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem? 9Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not. 10And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head. 11And, behold, the man clothed with linen, which had the inkhorn by his side, reported the matter, saying, I have done as thou hast commanded me. Paul at Ephesus
1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them,
“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you
believed?”
So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy
Spirit.”
3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you
baptized?”
So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”
4 Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a
baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.”
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord
Jesus.
